六、 課程概述:
(Course Description)
This course is designed to teach students the knowledge and the skills of the secretarial profession; to train students to be able to handle all the outline work of a secretary independently.

Topics cover the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in secretarial contexts. A series of aspects and attitudes that are also important on the job, such as courtesy, appropriate use of information, and the knowledge and understanding of other cultures are also included in this course.
七、 課程目標:
(Course Objectives)
The aim of this course is to train and prepare the students that may will take the posts as secretaries or personal assistants in international companies. To develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in secretarial contexts. Furthermore, this course will make students aware of the importance of a series of aspects and attitudes that are also important on the job, such as courtesy, appropriate use of information, and the knowledge and understanding of other cultures.本課程目的在於訓練學生使其具備有從事英文秘書或主管助理等相關工作之專業知識與技能。同時也提升學生在相關領域之商業英文及管理、組織能力。本課程以實務與理論並重、如情境演練、實際拜訪公司、了解公司組織、檔案管理方式及訪問秘書了解其實際工作內容。

Week 3 Job advertisements and applications (HW-
organization chart) –2hrs
Week 4 Ice Breakers –2 hrs (video – arrivals)
Week 5 Meeting office staff (introductions and greetings)

Week 6 The Organizational structure and the secretarial
role – 2 hrs (HW)
Week 7 Presentations 2 hrs
Week 8 Who’s who in the company (organization chart) 2hrs

九、 教學方法:
(Teaching Methods)
My approach to teaching this course is based on the “communicative approach”. The aim of each lesson is to provide students with opportunities for communication with the teacher and with each other in pairs and groups. To acquire a language, students require not only language input (language models) but also output (speaking practice). Under this approach, grammar is de-emphasized and class time is devoted to building students’ confidence in speaking: grammar problems that inhibit communication are picked up and dealt with in feedback sessions. Essential to this approach is that each task has a clearly defined communicative goal, and students are equipped with the linguistic skills necessary to complete the task. Role simulation is used to provide a realistic framework within which the student can activate the vocabulary, gambits and structures practiced in more controlled situations in the classroom.
