六、 課程概述: (Course Description) |
Ethics of interpreters and their professional codes of conduct will be introduced to students as basic theories in interpreting. In addition to theoretical understanding, practical training will include vocabulary drills, memorization, note-taking, rendition, and scenario play. A wide variety of sources and materials will be applied to intensify students' skills, and various interpreting scenarios are aimed at equipping students to cope with different situations. Hands-on approaches will be adopted throughout the course to prepare students for real life situations, and students are expected to work on their language proficiency through extensive reading and listening to the target source, the English language, outside the classroom. |
七、 課程目標: (Course Objectives) |
Upon the completion of this course, students shall be able to 1) apply proper sight translation skills in actual practices, 2) increase their competence in doing Chinese-English translation, and 3) approach translation tasks with more ease and confidence. Through intensive practices on daily-life materials, students not only get familiar with problem-solving skills in translation, but also gain knowledge about the world.
