六、 課程概述:
(Course Description)
Students will concentrate primarily on performance skills: speaking, manner, eye contact, and time. Students will practice and develop these skills and shall receive individual, detailed feedback (in the form of comments or scores) following each and every presentation. Students will be introduced to the designs and functions of various types of speeches. Each student will prepare and present a speech within each category based on original material and/or independent research.

WEEK 1. INTRODUCTION

WEEK 2. INTRODUCTORY SPEECH, LECTURE, VOICE & BODY LANGUAGE

WEEK 3. SCREAMING EXERCISE, SINGLE CLASS, EYE CONTACT, BODY
LANGUAGE

WEEK 4. ASSIGN NARRATIVE SPEECH, DEMONSTRATE SPEECH, INTRODUCE SOMETHING

WEEK 5. QUIZ ON LECTURES, MEET INDIVIDUALLY FOR SPEECH PREP

WEEK 6. NARRATIVE SPEECHES

WEEK 7. INTRO TO DEMONSTRATIVE SPEECHES, REVIEW NARRATIVE SPEECHES.

WEEK 8. WATCH VIDEO OF LAST YEAR’S CLASS

WEEK 9 MID-TERM EXAM

WEEK 10. GIVE DEMONSTRATION SPEECHES

WEEK 11. REVIEW OLD SPEECHES, INTRODUCE SPEECHES USING CHARTS AND GRAPHS

WEEK 12. EVALUATE YOUR OWN SPEECHES, VIDEO ON THEMSELVES

WEEK 13. DEMO ON CHART SPEECHES, SPEECH: WHAT MAKES YOU CRY

WEEK 14. SPEECH WITH CHARTS AND GRAPHS

WEEK 15. REVIEW LAST SPEECH, INTRODUCE APOLOGETIC SPEECHES

(Teaching Methods)
The instructor will demonstrate various forms of speech building, speaking and delivery methods. Students will follow a pattern in speaking.

Teacher will use several methods of instruction including, audio and visual listening drills, teacher and student- centered learning, group presentation and individual presentations.

Grades will be divided equally among each speech given in class. There is no mid term or final exam, but equal weight among speeches. Each speech unit will have a grade for attendance, participation and preparation for the speaking unit.
