(Course Objectives)
Upon the completion of this course, the students will be able to:
1. Discuss the basic elements of theory, theory development, and in the application of theory to client systems.
2. Describe the concepts of health, environment, client system, and nursing as they are related to the development of a body of knowledge to guide the art and science of nursing.
3. Explain linkages among theory, research and clinical or functional practice.
4. Analyze and evaluate selected theories that can be used in nursing research and advanced nursing practice.
5. Apply selected theories to an identified clinical problem experienced by individuals or groups.
